Hon. Christine Njagi Mmbwanga
Hon Christine Njagi Mmbwanga is a Senior Resident Magistrate serving at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Courts (JKIA LAW COURTS). She was employed into the Judiciary in 2013 and has served at the Kwale Law Courts as well as the Milimani Law Courts where she has been engaged in various Corporate Social Responsibility activities that have benefited both her and the community she serves. She has passion for children and gender issues as well as she is an environmentalist and has been continuously involved in tree planting and activities that support environmental conservation and protection.
As she strives to uphold the vision of the Sustainable Development Goals she combines these two passions to ensure that there is sustainable environmental conservation that seeks to balance conservation and developmental needs as well as ensure that women and children have access to clean and healthy environments as enshrined in Article 42 of the Constitution of Kenya.
She is an active participant in Court Users Committees where she has participated in joint efforts to sensitize the communities on issues of gender, sexual based violence, how to report such cases, what to do to ensure that the evidence is not contaminated and children rights. She encourages children, women and men to also know their rights by distributing copies of the Constitution and sensitizing them on their rights and responsibilities under the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
Hon. Njagi is a member of the Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Association (CMJA), Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA). She is also a member and as well as part of the Secretariat of the National Council on Administration of Justice Criminal Justice Reforms Committee (NCAJ-NCCJR) whose mandate is to identify and propose reforms in the Criminal Justice System and lastly she is a member of the International Commission of Jurists-Kenyan Section.
Hon. Njagi is currently the Secretary of the International Association of Women Judges, Kenya Chapter.
