Team Member: Hon. Irene Marcia Kahuya

Hon. Irene Marcia Kahuya joined the Judiciary in the year 2010 and has risen through the ranks to the position of a Principal Magistrate. In the course of duty, She has served three court stations across the country and is currently based at the Machakos Law Courts and attends  to the Wamunyu Mobile Court once a week, located 42 km away from the main court so as to attend to the many litigants who cannot afford transportation.

Her zeal for working with vulnerable women and children led to her selection as a speaker of the topic, "Women and Children in Detention." during the 2016 IAWJ Biennial Conference in Washington DC. She was a panelist in the Kenya - Spain Peer Learning Seminar on Criminal Justice System on Gender Based Violence that took place on the 16th of May 2019 in Nairobi, Kenya.
