Team Member: Hon. Jane Kamau

Honourable Jane Kamau is a Senior Resident Magistrate at the Kajiado Court where she serves as a Deputy Registrar of the High Court and magistrate in the Chief Magistrates court. She holds a LLB Degree from the University of South Africa and is currently pursuing her master at The University of Nairobi on International Conflict Management.

Through her judicial role, Hon Kamau has concluded several matters in her court station at Mombasa, Nairobi including children matters, criminal cases and civil matters including taxation of Bills of costs. She is passionate in matters touching on vulnerable groups including women and especially children, and has a keen interest in human trafficking cases where she has received training from various organizations. 

In September 2021, Hon Kamau was elected and is currently serving as a Vice Secretary in the Kenya Women Judges Association- Kenya Chapter. She is also a member of the International Women Judges and Magistrates Association, Kenya Magistrates and Judges association, Common Wealth Magistrate and Judges association, Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), and the Law Society of Kenya. She is a patron of the Milimani Choir which was formed in the year 2020 when she served as a Deputy Registrar at the Criminal Division at Milimani.

Due to her active role in mentorship programs, she was appointed in two High School Boards of Management from 2015 to date. These schools are Kihumbuini Girls high school and Kiunyu Girls High School, both at Gatanga, Muranga county. 

When she is not behind her desk writing judgments, she is engaged in nonprofit and charitable work. She is the patron of young leaders who are in a group known as Weka Smile Foundation that reaches out to the needy and puts smiles on their faces through fun, games and charitable works. She has participated in homes such as Mother Teresa Children’s Home in Huruma and at Terry Child Support & Youth Resource Center, in Kathunzweni, Kenya. She also likes to cook, travel and garden.
