Executive Committee member Representing High Court and Courts of Equal Status

Hon. Lady Justice Hellen Wasilwa is currently a Puisne Judge in Kenya working at the Employment and Labour Relations Court having served in this court as court Registrar for five years before her appointment as judge since July 2012. She has more than 30 years’ experience in administering justice in Kenya having signed the Roll of Advocates in September 1989 and having first joined the judiciary as a magistrate in 1990 and having risen through the ranks to her current position. Her approach to leadership is that of servitude and has a special passion in advocating for the voiceless.

She has undergone several professional training including training in International Labour Standards from the ILO Training school in Turin Italy and Advanced leadership training from the Kenya School of Government. She is also an alumni of SALT, a leadership training conducted by the Kenya House of Prayer on servant leadership.

She has served as a resource person training lawyers in their continuous legal education program on labor laws and also participated as a visiting lecturer at the Kenya School of law. She also taught law at the Mount Kenya University Faculty of Law before her appointment as a judge.

In May 2016 she was a panelist at the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ)conference in Washington DC where she presented a paper on the topic “Courts in crisis” highlighting how courts in Kenya have dealt with terrorist attacks.

Hon. Lady Justice Hellen Wasilwa is the immediate former President of the Kenya Judges Welfare Association and currently the Executive Committee member of the International Association of Women Judges - Kenya Chapter, representing the High Court and Courts of Equal Status .
